How did VentureWell contribute to your leadership development and your professional trajectory?
The VentureWell Ocean Enterprise Accelerator program shaped my leadership by helping me recognize and act on timing—showing me how advances in cloud computing and AI opened a window for real change. With mentor guidance, I learned to communicate not only what CargoCheck builds, but why now is the right moment to help ports and industry accelerate data-driven safety and efficiency gains.
What’s a key learning or takeaway from the VentureWell program you participated in, and how did it impact your journey?
VentureWell reinforced that effective leadership starts with curiosity. The reminder that customer discovery is a continuous process—not a milestone—helped me organize my time around what matters most: solving real problems for real people.
Looking back, what advice would you give yourself at the start of your journey?
Start where you are, connect with others who care, and aim anyway. I recently gave a TEDx talk on how to move forward in the face of uncertainty, because I wanted my kids to understand what I wish I’d known when I was younger: Progress isn’t about perfect plans or static values; it’s about living with good character and taking imperfect steps to keep learning together.
