Ursinus College
April Kontostathis, Professor and Chair of Mathematics and Computer Science, earned a PhD in computer science from Lehigh University. She also authored articles on using machine learning techniques to detect cyber predation and cyber bullying. While her primary research interest is in the theory and practice of information retrieval and textual data mining, she also has an investment in undergraduate research, co-authoring many articles with students at Ursinus College. Kontostathis has received four recent awards from the National Science Foundation for her work on cybercrime and for her work with students. She is part of the founding faculty leadership team for the U-Imagine Center for Integrative and Entrepreneurial Studies at Ursinus College.
