James Madison University

Dr. Robert Nagel is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Engineering at James Madison University. Since joining JMU, Nagel has helped to develop the department’s six-course engineering design sequence and currently he is lead instructor of the two-course, client-based sophomore design experience. Most recently, Nagel has been part of an effort to develop an interdisciplinary Innovation Leadership minor at JMU. Nagel’s research interests revolve around engineering design and design education. Currently, Nagel is the institutional lead on an NSF-funded research project studying the impact on student learning and retention due to engagement in university maker spaces.
