Washington University in St. Louis

Avik Som is a fourth-year student of the Washington University in St. Louis Medical Scientist Training Program (MD/PhD), and currently is in the Biomedical Engineering PhD component of his training in the Optical Radiology Laboratory at Washington University School of Medicine. He holds a Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. He recently led a team of engineers towards the development of a laparoscopic retractor whose IP was recently licensed, and has undergone formal training in biomedical design through the undergraduate division of the Center for Biomedical Innovation and Design.
