Fawwaz Habbal is the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS) Executive Dean for Education and Research and is also a Senior Lecturer in Applied Physics. Dr. Habbal served as the first Executive Dean for SEAS from 2007 to 2011. After joining Harvard in 2001, he served as Associate Dean for Research and Planning, at the Division of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Prior to Harvard, he held the position as Corporate Vice President, responsible for research and product design at Polaroid Corporation where he served as a Senior Research and Engineering Fellow as well. Dr. Habbal’’s research interests have been in magnetics, superconductivity, semiconductors, and Nanophotonics and he has authored over 100 publications in these areas. Dr. Habbal holds a Ph.D. in Experimental Physics from the University of Cincinnati, MS in Physics from the American University of Beirut and BS in Mathematics from the University of Damascus. He completed several executive management programs at Harvard, Penn State Smeal College of Business and Wharton School of Business.
