United Nations World Food Programme
Shruthi Baskaran is a Senior Associate at the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), on a yearlong social impact leave-of-absence. She currently works for the Business Innovation and Support Team (RMI) at the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Rome, Italy. Shruthi earned her undergraduate degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, where she focused on environmental and water resource engineering. Her interests include global food security, social entrepreneurship, travel, and photography. Shruthi has been involved with the Humanitarian Engineering and Social Entrepreneurship Program for five years and has previously traveled to Kenya, and Rwanda, where she led student teams developing sustainable, low-cost technological solutions to address food insecurity in East Africa. She also led a research project, called The Global Jugaad Commons, which attempts to understand innovation from the perspective of youth in the developing communities of the world.
