grant opportunities for BME faculty and students
The BME-IDEA International E-Team Grant Program offers grant of $13,000 to support collaboration between US-based BME design students and their counterparts across the BME-IDEA global network.
$13,000 grants available to BME student teams and their faculty PIs!
- Students will unlock $9,000 to advance their innovation and collaborate with international peers. We’re seeking teams developing a scalable engineering-based invention— including biomedical devices, healthcare diagnostic tools, and global health technologies—that addresses a critical social, environmental, or economic problem.
- Accepted teams will take part in VentureWell’s online Pioneer entrepreneurship training workshop. During Pioneer, students will discover the best market for their invention and possible pathways for their venture.
- Faculty will receive $4,000 travel grants to participate in global BME partner site visits, conferences, trainings, and advising opportunities. The program will connect and fund faculty to share resources, best practices, curriculum, challenges, and opportunities around innovation in BME design.
We aim to build strong partnerships between US-based and global BME design and innovation programs. Exchanges of faculty, students, resources, and best practices will foster the development of US-trained leaders in BME design and innovation who understand the challenges of teaching and practice in this field around the world—especially in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC) in Africa and Latin America.
