BME-IDEA Meeting 2024

Overview

Members of the U.S.-based BME-IDEA consortium convene approximately every other year to share best practices, discuss common challenges, and brainstorm new directions in biomedical engineering innovation education.

This year’s meeting took place October 22-23, 2024, at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland. Attendees engaged in dynamic discussions and collaborative workshops, continuing the tradition of advancing biomedical engineering education through innovation, design, and entrepreneurship.

The meeting brought together faculty and staff from leading U.S. universities who teach in experiential undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate training programs focused on health technology innovation.

What Was New and Exciting in 2024?

The 2024 BME-IDEA Meeting featured a variety of engaging sessions and activities, including:

  • Johns Hopkins tours: Exclusive, pre-registered tours of Johns Hopkins’ state-of-the-art facilities.
    Panel discussions and workshops: Focused on addressing today’s challenges and opportunities in biomedical engineering education.
  • Collaborative breakout sessions: Designed to foster creative problem-solving and generate new ideas for advancing the field.
  • Networking reception: A vibrant opportunity for participants to connect with peers, share insights, and explore collaborative opportunities.

This year’s meeting emphasized collaboration and innovation, providing attendees with valuable tools and strategies to integrate into their teaching and research.
