AssistENT Awarded 2018 Lemelson-MIT Student Prize
2017 E-Team AssistENT received $10,000 from the “Use it!” Lemelson-MIT Student Prize, a program that rewards technology-based inventions that involve consumer devices. AssistENT developed a comfortable and discreet nasal dilator designed to improve breathing for those who suffer from nasal obstruction.

IoT Tech Connect Pitch Competition Winner Announced
AvidCor, a 2017 ASPIRE team, took home first place and a $50k equity investment at the IoT Tech Connect Pitch Club Competition in Michigan. AvidCor provides an affordable cardiac monitoring device via Bluetooth-connected smart devices.

Instapath wins 2018 JEDCO Challenge
Instapath, a 2016 I-Corps team working to improve biopsy procedures, won JEDCO’s sixth annual startup pitch competition. The company has also recently won the $25,000 Texas Medical Center Accelerator Prize, and a $15,000 Women’s Health and Wellness Prize at the 2018 Rice Business Plan Competition.

InScope wins $100K from tech icon Steve Case
InScope, a 2016 I-Corps team that invented a device to streamline the intubation process, received a $100,000 dollar investment from Steve Case during Louisville’s first startup week.

Partnerships & Sales

Arable Labs partners with The Nature Conservancy, Nestlé Purina, and Cargill to improve water sustainability in the beef supply chain
Arable Labs, Inc. is partnering with The Nature Conservancy, in collaboration with Nestlé Purina and Cargill, to launch a three-year water project aimed at reducing the environmental impact of row crop irrigation in the beef supply chain. Arable, a 2015 I-Corps alum, is a global solution to managing weather risk and crop health, delivering real-time, actionable insights from the field.

Technology Breakthroughs

Peer-Reviewed, Published, and in Practice: Maize Analytics Patient Privacy Solution
Nationwide Children’s Hospital and Maize Analytics Inc., a former I-Corps team, gave a joint presentation at the Ohio Health Information Management Association in March. The presentation showcased how Maize empowered NCH privacy officers to accelerate their ability to perform patient privacy audits quickly and efficiently.
