Best of Show, or Sharks, Dogs, and Ponies in a Tank: The ups, the downs, and the sideways of pitch competitions

The pitch competition. We all have one, if not greater than one. And yet, do we gather data on the outcomes? What do these data suggest? And, given these data, why do we still have pitch competitions?

In this session we will discuss— honestly and privately —the ups, the downs, and the sideways of pitch competitions.

The goals: to learn what works and what doesn’t, such that we can design programs and competitions that best support the needs and aspirations of our students.
