Bringing Learning Innovations to Scale: Who's doing it and in what ecosystems?
The traditional narrative of the successful entrepreneur is one who has quit his or her day job to pursue a dream. But different entrepreneurs have different goals and needs. Many successful entrepreneurs commercialize their innovations within the context of their current jobs and institutions. This session explores participants’ entrepreneurial goals and motivations and how they may influence the ecosystem(s) in which they promote their innovations. In the first part of the session, participants will complete a short survey to identify their entrepreneurial motivations. Early stage entrepreneurs representing different models will discuss their perspectives and experiences, followed by attendees’ stories. The second part of the session focuses on the unique ecosystem features within which learning innovations scale, using case studies from I-Corps for Learning (I-Corps L), including interactive discussion. Attendees will leave the session with a broader understanding of entrepreneurship, and some may find renewed validation of their motives and goals.
