2017: A Year of Positive Impact

positive impact

Looking back, 2017 was our most exciting and impactful year to date. At the start of the year, we set a high bar for ourselves. Goals included enhancing our support of early stage innovators, expanding our faculty initiatives, increasing our work developing entrepreneurial ecosystems, and extending our thought leadership.

We’ve made great strides on all fronts. For instance, we developed and implemented entrepreneurship trainings and competitions for early stage science and technology inventors in emerging economies. Our grants to institutions created capacity to engage students in experiential education. We coordinated networks to drive change in areas ranging from student access and success to more productive engagement of industry in university innovation. Innovator teams have raised $150M in private funding. For more in-depth stories about our recent accomplishments, download the 2016-17 Year in Review report here.

Looking Ahead

As we look toward next year, VentureWell is well-positioned to pursue even more high-impact initiatives that advance discoveries from university research through the entrepreneurial process to benefit society. New and long-time funding partners have enlisted us to create and develop initiatives that will affect the same transformation around the world. We’ll also continue to enhance and expand our programming, and identify new opportunities that leverage our existing communities, knowledge, and reputation. We’re deeply grateful for the support and commitment from everyone in our community in this important work.
